About Us:
South-Asian Women's Alliance of Nevada (SWAN) was formed in 2021 to bridge the gap between the South-Asian communities and mainstream services and resources that exist within Nevada. SWAN aims to connect South-Asians living in Southern Nevada to vital federal, state, local social service programs as well as volunteer opportunities in the community. The South-Asian diaspora is composed of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Indo-Caribbean and other South-Asian descendants. Many regional similarities are shared within these communities but our voices are often left behind in conversations. Through SWAN programming, we hope to collectively elevate our cultures, values, and resources to the larger community through culturally competent programming.
